1. "Obi Do Wa" - Ebo Taylor - Jazz Is Dead 021 [Jazz Is Dead: 2024]
   Notes: Taylor has been a pivotal figure on the Ghanaian music scene for over six decades. In the late 1950s he was active in the influential highlife bands the Stargazers and the Broadway Dance Band. In 1962, Taylor took his group, the Black Star Highlife Band, to London. In London, Taylor collaborated with Nigerian afrobeat Initiator Fela Kuti as well as other African musicians in Britain at the time.
2. "Amor Enfeiticado" - Carlos Dafe - Jazz Is Dead 021 [Jazz Is Dead: 2024]
   Notes: Carlos Dafé was instrumental in establishing Brazil's Black Rio Movement, where Afro-Brazilians came together to develop a funk & dance scene that challenged Brazil's dictatorship. The stories continue, but the aim for Jazz Is Dead 021 remains the same: to "give all of these maestros their flowers while they can still smell them and share all of the vibrant music with fans for decades to come."
3. "Cinko Mina" - Natu Camara - single [Natuwenta Productions: 2024]
   Notes: Born in Ivory Coast but raised in Guinea, Natu Camara first made her name as one of the singers in the female R&B hip-hop band, the Ideal Black Girls. Their first album, 'Guinea mou monèra' (It's not a shame to be a woman) went on to sell in the millions and was nominated for Best Album 2002 in Guinea. Natu Camara has carved a strong name in Guinea and NYC. As the founder of the popular annual festival Harlem Meet Africa, Natu works tirelessly to create events that promote African heritage and culture with contemporary relevance.
4. "En Mis Suenos" - Miramar - single [Ansonia: 2024]
   Notes: Richmond-based Bolero Beat band Miramar has announced the release of their forthcoming album, Entre Tus Flores, January 10 via Ansonia Records. It's a record that embraces the spirit of discovery and tradition simultaneously- beaming a worldly sound out from the quiet streets of Richmond, Virginia. It weaves in Rei's (vocalist) Puerto Rican Roots, keyboardist Marlysse's, a first generation Chilean, experience of movement across two continents, and Laura Ann's (vocalist) experience with Appalachian and Brazilian music.

   Notes: The Bongo Hop is back with another highly danceable, genre bending and colorful effort. La Pata Coja is out now on Underdog Records. Always navigating back and forth across the Atlantic in search of his musical dreamland, he offers a deeper insight into the making of his music, an organic sounding, almost live approach to his infectiously groovy compositions, topped with impeccable collaborations.

   Notes: Frère d'Afrique is underpinned by the sound and cadence of the tambor - the drum at the heart of Colombian culture and the rhythmic backbone of cumbia music. With the remarkably deft playing of Senegalese guitarist, Mustapha (Tapha) Gaye, this is a rich and soulful collection which reflects the music and the magic of two coastal communities on opposite sides of the Atlantic Ocean.
