FANTASTIC EXPEDITION – DJ NOWHERE GIRL
Live Show: May 5th Lemon Twigs and The Smashing Times at The Southern, Charlottesville VA.
Magic Fig – Magic Fig. Let the trippy fuzz wash over you.
Untame the Tiger – Mary Timony. And the later-in-the-year single that was released separately – “Curious Tides“
Who Does the Music Love – Outer World. LOVED seeing them live at Visible Records this year. And the single released later in the year, “Coming Down,” a cover of a United States of America song.
“Taraval” – Freckle – Ty Segall’s latest collaboration.
“The Great Man” – Guided by Voices
“Watching the World Pass Me by” – Higher State – new garage-psych-folk.
“Talk” – Clear Channel. Very memorable show at Visible Records on October 11th, too.
“Floating on a Moment” – Beth Gibbons
“Not Like Us” – Kendrick Lamar. My kids thought I should hear this when it came out. I listened to it 25 times in a row after that first listen.
“Peppermint Roses” – The Lemon Twigs. Nostalgic pop from the D’addario brothers, who make me proud to also be from Long Island.
“Click” – System Exclusive. Another fantastic, synth-packed show at Visible Records this year.
“Saturn and Janus” – The Smashing Times. I have such a hard time believing they are from Baltimore, as they sound as if they time-travelled from the British 60’s psych scene?
“Don’t Look at Me” – The Brian Jonestown Massacre, Aimee Nash
“Friend of a Friend” – The Smile
“A Song for While I’m Away” – Thin Lizzy off The Acoustic EP released this year.
