Give thanks with WTJU as Uncle Dave Lewis presents a special holiday tribute during Folk & Beyond to Ernest V. Stoneman and the Stoneman Family. “Pop” Stoneman made his first recording for the Edison Company in 1924 and was part of the Bristol, TN “Big Bang” of Country Music in 1927 with his first family band. A later family band consisting of Stoneman’s grown up children dominated the Bluegrass competition circuit of the 1950s, and combinations of the various Stonemans continued to entertain and record into the 2010s.
