GootGenuG at Offbeat Roadhouse

Author: WTJU

Date: 10/18/2024

Time: 8:00 pm - 9:00 pm

GootGenuG will pull into Offbeat Roadhouse Friday night, October 18, for a concert which will also be broadcast on WTJU. They are an organically grown jazz fusion quintet out of Central Virginia.

This is a free event, open to all. You can also listen to Offbeat Roadhouse on the radio (91.1 FM) or on-line, and even video stream it at WTJU’s Facebook page or YouTube channel.  But concerts always sound better with you as part of the studio audience.  WTJU is located at 2244 Ivy Rd in Charlottesville, right next door to Vivace.  There is plenty of parking, both in our lot as well as the Sentara lot next door.

Offbeat Roadhouse is supported locally by Ting – lightning-fast fiber internet for your home and business. Learn more at tinginternet.com/wtju. Use promo code WTJU at checkout for a free month and $100 gift certificate.

The Charlottesville jazz scene, full as it is of truly world-class musicians, thankfully makes room for a group of average joes exploring the improvisational stratosphere in what spare time they have. The members of GootGenuG come from a variety of professional backgrounds, as well as musical ones, and this diversity makes for a combination of sonic personalities that produce many interesting musical conversations. They came together originally in 2019, performing mostly at backyard barbecues at one another’s homes. In spring 2023, after a number of lineup changes over the years, they made their way out of the backyard and into the coffeeshops and breweries of western Albemarle, and are thrilled to be joining forces with WTJU to bring their music to the rest of the world!
