The BoPCats at Offbeat Roadhouse

By WTJU

Date: 07/14/2023

Time: 8:00 pm - 9:00 pm

The BoPCats will pull into Offbeat Roadhouse Friday night, July 14, for a concert which will also be broadcast on WTJU. Probably the largest part of the band’s collection, and what they’re most known for, is in the Rockabilly vein, that early blend of blues and country that Sun Records and others pioneered on small labels.  For the Offbeat Roadhouse broadcast they will be playing a retrospective of some of the giants of “Rockabilly”, plus originals in that style.

This is a free event, open to all. You can also listen to Offbeat Roadhouse on the radio (91.1 FM) or on-line, and even video stream it at WTJU’s Facebook page or YouTube channel.  But concerts always sound better with you as part of the studio audience.

Offbeat Roadhouse is supported locally by Ting – Bringing light-speed internet to homes and businesses.

The BoP Cats band has been a fixture and flagship of musical foundations on the Richmond scene for a long while.  A host of talented and devoted players have passed through and left their own imprint on the band identity over the decades.  Currently the repertoire includes immortal numbers from the Blues, Country, 50’s rock, and 60’s psychedelia groups.

These days the band is composed of, loosely, founding member and guitarist Lindy Fralin, drummer Paul Hammond, bassist John Coppinger, and Pianist Russell Marsh,
