Tune in Sunday from noon to 1:00pm here on WTJU (91.1 FM and streaming at wtju.net). This week’s guest is James Wilson, cellist and Artistic Coordinator of the world-renowned Orpheus Chamber Orchestra.
As part of its 50th anniversary season, the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra is performing in Charlottesville on Tuesday, February 21 as part of the Tuesday Evening Concert Series. They’ll be joined by the extraordinary young Italian pianist Alessio Bax.
Besides his role as a cellist in and Artistic Coordinator of Orpheus, James Wilson is also familiar to Virginia audiences as a founder of the Chamber Music Society of Central Virginia, which presents chamber music programming year-round in Richmond. He splits his time between New York City and Staunton, Virginia, where he lives with his partner, Carsten Schmidt, who is Artistic Director of the Staunton Music Festival.
