Offstage, On-Air is a weekly show highlighting central Virginia’s vibrant classical music community. Each week you’ll hear conversations with local classical musicians, learn about upcoming concerts, and enjoy artist-curated playlists. Kenan Jr. Professor Emerita at the University of Virginia, where she founded the Virginia Center for Computer Music.
Judith has written widely for chamber music ensembles, soloists, choirs and orchestras, and also has an extensive catalogue of electronic, electroacoustic and multimedia works. She has been commissioned by prominent ensembles and performers across the globe and maintains an active schedule of composing, residencies, workshops and commissions.We’ll talk about and listen to a sampling of Judith’s work. We’ll also discuss several premieres of new works of hers in 2023, including a piece, “The Gift to Sing,” that was commissioned by Zephyrus, the Charlottesville-based early music vocal ensemble.
