The Buffalo Ruckus – Peace & Cornbread (Shiner): The Buffalo Ruckus is a roots/Americana/hard country rock sound with the rock elements rising and lowering depending upon the specific song. The band itself features Jason Lovelli (lead vocal, acoustic guitar, harmonica), Brad Haefner (lead guitar, mandolin, banjo, backing vocals), and Michael Burgess (bass) with some backing support from Jonathan Tyler (guitar, backing vocals), Jeffrey Saenz (guitar, organ, backing vocals), Daniel Creamer (keys), and Jordan Cain, Kirk Thurmond and Noah Eicherler sharing duties on drums and percussion. Tim Gartland & 24/7 – The Willie Project (Taste Good Music): Veteran blues harp player / singer Tim Gartland leads his group 24/7 – Tim Powell (bass), Pete Broberg (guitar) and JR Richley (drums) – in a tribute to Willie Dixon, the great blues writer, producer and performer. The six selections were all written by Dixon and include classics like “Back Door Man” and “You Can’t Judge A Book By It’s Cover”, as well as lesser known songs like “You Know My Love” and “When The Lights Go Out”. Gartland’s harp playing is the show here – powerful, full sound – and the band supports him well. Click here to listen to samples of the songs on this disc.

Wildcat O’Halloran – The Boy Don’t Play No Blues (Self-produced): O’Halloran (guitar, vocals) covers a lot of ground on this disc – from The Beatles “Dr. Robert” to “Don’t Let The Devil Ride” to old soul songs like “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” and “Dance to The Music” among others. The band features Devin Griffiths (guitar), Joe Fitzpatrick (drums), Dave Kenderlan (bass), Emily Duff (sax), Johnny Marino (harmonica) and Sarah and Amy Halloran (vocals). This sounds like a memory disc for those who liked the band in performance. I couldn’t locate any samples from this disc, but here is a fairly recent live performance that gives a reasonable sense of the sound. Click here.

Sari Schorr – A Force Of Nature (Hatman): Debut release by BIG voiced singer-shouter-songwriter Sari Schorr. Her sings with the power, but not the high falsetto or trills of Janis Joplin. Her band reflects the heyday sounds of bands like Savoy Brown and other blues rockers. Her cast of supporting musicians include guitarists James Sibun, Oli Brown, Quinque Bonal, and a guest appearance by Walter Trout; Julian Maeso John Baggett, Dave Keyes and Jesus Lavillas (keyboards); Nani Conde (bass); and Jose Mena (drums). Mike Vernon (Fleetwood Mac, John Mayall) produced this disc. Lots of power in the vocals with solid rock backing. Click here to catch her official video of a song on this disc.

Various Artists – Booty Shakin’ Soul, Blues Mix 21 (ECKO): Time to get out on the dance floor and shake your booty “Ecko” style just exactly the way O.B. Buchana tells you. Other performers include Jaye Hammer, Sonny mack, Ms Jody, Quinn Golden, David Brinston, Donnie Ray and the Mystery Man. Lots of synth sounds beats. Click here and listen to Jaye Hammer explain.
