Check out the premiere of “The Electronic Lover” audio opera on June 1

On June 1, 8 – 9 p.m., WTJU 91.1 FM will premiere the final episode of the audio opera “The Electronic Lover,” followed by a discussion with the composer.
The Electronic Lover is an audio opera set in women-only chatrooms at the dawn of the internet, in the moment when we first invited computers into the most intimate aspects of our lives.
“It’s not a traditional opera,” said Lisa Mezzacappa, UVA alum and composer, producer, and bassist of The Electronic Lover. “It’s funny and accessible in how it sounds and in its very of-the-moment themes around online relationships.”
The nine episode series launched in 2020. WTJU will host the world premiere of the final episode in conjunction with the project’s release as a record on the Innova label. Episodes #1-8 are available on Vimeo, Apple Podcasts, and other podcast platforms.
The public is invited to be a part of the studio audience at WTJU’s Stage at 2244 Ivy Road for this special broadcast event. The event is free. Registration is requested below:
