Not your Grandmother’s blues, unless she was born on the North End of Mississippi. Created by three established musicians’ love of that North Mississippi sound, their three Kings of the blues are Kimbrough, Burnside and Payton!
Heading up the band is the one of the hardest working bluesmen in the area; frontman, vocalist and harp player, Waverly Milor. A foundation of the Blues in Charlottesville, playing with bands like Hard Swimmin’ Fish, Wavelength, The Blow Birds and many more, bringing that wonderful, legitimate Blues voice to every size audience.
John Stubblefield brings years of drumming in Charlottesville dating back to the 80’s including a 10-year spread with the Jon Spear Band, The Outliers and sitting in with many of the greats of our area. Besides being one of the most fluent drummers in C’ville, John also builds drums for musicians around the world, one drum at a time, and is a true artist.
Rounding out the trio is Jack Roy, guitarist, slide guitarist, Cigarbox guitarist, Lap Steel, Didley Bow or anything with a string attached. All three musicians have made it to the SemiFinals of the Internation Blues Challenge, Played countless Festivals around the Country, multiple albums in their resume and John and Jack played with both of Muddy Waters’ Sons on the road.
Together they bring together the one thing that unites them, Mississippi Deep Blues, whether it is one chord song or 5 chords, its all about the feeling of that Hill Country Sound! Well, Well, Well!
