Third Rail Presents “Heavy Flow” on the WTJU Stage

By WTJU Rock

Date: 03/16/2024

Time: 8:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Coming up on the third Saturday in March, WTJU Rock’s Third Rail welcomes Heavy Flow to the WTJU Stage! This free event is open to a live audience at 2244 Ivy Rd. Tickets are not required. You can also listen on 91.1 FM, stream via wtju.net, and live video stream on WTJU’s Facebook and YouTube channels.

Catherine Monnes and Katie Jackson are Heavy Flow: Ethereal sounds from the ground to the rafters. Dip into this sonic bath of instruments that include cello, vibraphone, lapsteel, accordion, vocals, keyboard, guitar, effects, and more. Ride the tide: inhale with the ebb, exhale with the flow, let it all go as you wrap yourself in a tapestry of tone. There might be unicorns.

Catherine Monnes is a multi-instrumentalist, student, teacher, mother, grandmother, shape shifter, shadow dancer and great big fool! She is involved in a number of projects including La Tremontane, The Creative Music Ensemble, The Kurdish American Ensemble, Night Teacher, and the Sally Rose Band. Check out some of Catherine’s solo projects, HERE.

Katie Jackson has a brand new solo release, “The Graceful Approach,” under the name, “natant.” She makes electronic ambient music that is ideal for setting the mood at your next seancé. Find Katie’s new release HERE.

Doors open at 7:30pm. Park in the lower and/or upper WTJU lots, or on the West side of the station in the neighboring Sentara lot.

Third Rail is supported locally by Hello, Goodbye Records – A Mom & Pop record shop on East Market Street, Charlottesville.
