Third Rail presents Second Dinner at the WTJU Stage

Date: 01/20/2024

Time: 8:00 pm - 9:00 pm

WTJU Rock’s “Third Rail” is excited to present experimental improv band, Second Dinner, to the WTJU Stage on Saturday, January 20, 8 – 9 p.m. This free event is open to all at 2244 Ivy Rd. You can also listen on 91.1 FM, stream via wtju.net, and video stream on WTJU’s Facebook and YouTube channels.

Second Dinner is Colin Langenus, Jarrod Hood, Matthew Clark, and CK. The improvisational quartet is based in and around Charlottesville, VA, and has been playing together for about a year and a half, most notably opening for Sublime Frequencies acts Baba Commandant (Rest In Peace) and Dwarfs of East Agouza in 2023. The 4 came together playing loose gigs at bonfire parties and developed a solid chemistry. Influences include the sound of evening insects, early Stereolab and other twists on the kraut formula, Sun Ra’s free improvisation, and sludgy noodling of various ilks.

Colin was a force behind the legendary Charlottesville DIY venue, The Pudhouse, and is half of the seminal psyche punk duo USAISAMONSTER. CK releases solo albums under their moniker CK Numbskull. Jarrod is known for various instrumentation in myriad local acts from Horsefang to Mr. Baby and Mass Sabbath. Matthew has drummed for Virginia based ostinato, Premonition 13 (with Doom legend Wino), and several other LA based heavy bands over the past decade and runs a small boutique label Casual Acid Tea Recordings.
