John Shanesy and The Accommodation at Offbeat Roadhouse, Nov 4 – CANCELED
By WTJU
Due to band illness, tonight’s concert will be rescheduled for a different date.
John Shanesy and The Accommodation will pull into Offbeat Roadhouse Friday night, November 4, for a concert which will also be broadcast on WTJU. A modern twist on the classic honky tonk sounds of Bakersfield and Nashville, John Shanesy and the Accommodation play an array of original songs and classic covers for Charlottesville and Central Virginia.
This is a free event, open to all. Masks are strongly encouraged for all attendees. You can also listen to Offbeat Roadhouse on the radio (91.1 FM) or on-line, and even video stream it at WTJU’s Facebook page or YouTube channel. But concerts always sound better with you as part of the studio audience. WTJU is located at 2244 Ivy Rd in Charlottesville, right next door to Vivace. There is plenty of parking, both in our lot as well as the Sentara lot next door.
Born in Miami County, Ohio, John was a middle child drawn to creative pursuits like painting and music. After establishing himself in the restaurant business and starting a family, he returned to the guitar, writing songs in the late hours while everyone else was sleeping. As he polished his songwriting, he found himself drawn back to the music he listened to when he was a kid, riding around with his mom in her work truck in the 1990s: traditional and neotraditional sounds of country.
Soon John teamed up with guitarist Kyle Kilduff, who workshopped the original songs, contributed to arrangements, and helped build a catalog of classic covers by artists like George Jones, Waylon Jennings, Buck Owens, Steve Earle, Marty Stuart, and others to fill out the band’s repertoire.
The band’s lineup was filled out with pedal steel guitarist Brooks Hefner and a rhythm section of Jay Ouypron on bass and Porter Bralley on drums.
