Since its inception, WTJU has been a different sort of radio station. Hundreds of volunteer hosts creating their own shows, sharing excellent and eclectic music. Over the years, we’ve built a sort of fellowship of misfits at UVA. And it feels like home.
Now WTJU 91.1 FM is turning 65 years old.
Join us for these celebrations:
EARLY JUNE: WTJU & WXTJ REUNIONS
WTJU is celebrating its 65th birthday in-person during the first two weekends in June 2022. WTJU’s reunions are open to anyone who’s been a host, volunteer, or supporter of WTJU or WXTJ.
WEEKEND #1: Graduated ~1980s or before
REGISTER HERE for the celebration dinner.
All events are free and open to the public except the dinner.
Friday, June 3:
- 5 – 8 p.m. Open house, station tours, story recording, hanging out at WTJU’s stage, drinks and light fare
- 8 – 9 p.m. Live music at WTJU’s stage: The Gladstones. Straight, old school rock ‘n’ roll of every variety, led by Bob Girard and Charlie Pastorfield.
Saturday, June 4:
- 5 – 6 p.m. Happy hour, hanging out at WTJU’s stage
- 6 – 8 p.m. Celebration dinner at Vivace Italian Restaurant. Register here.
Throughout the weekend
- Alum guest hosting shows on WTJU
WEEKEND #2: WXTJ + Graduated ~1990s or after
