Celebrate John Rutter’s 70th birthday with WTJU!

By WTJU

This Thursday, the world-renowned composer, arranger and conductor of choral music, John Rutter, turns 70 (although he claims it’s just a repeat of his 30th birthday!).

And this Friday, September 25th, from 6-9 am, WTJU will be holding a special party for him.  We recently spent a delightful afternoon chatting with him about his life, his upbringing and his music.

John Rutter has some amazing stories to tell, and you can hear some of them on the show.  The program will feature only music composed by him, with the exception of the Requiem by Gabriel Faure, which will be the main feature of the final hour.

We’ll hear John Rutter’s story of how he came to track down the manuscript after decades when it was thought to be lost.  And then we’ll hear his carefully-edited version of the Requiem, conducted, of course, by John Rutter.

All in all, you’ll hear a joyful, compelling program about a truly wonderful man and his music. It’s our musical birthday party for the amazing John Rutter this Friday morning.  We hope you’ll join us for the celebration.
