WTJU & WXTJ are celebrating College Radio Day!
By Nathan Moore
WTJU is proud to have served as the University of Virginia’s radio station for 60 years.
We are also proud to have built our sibling radio station at UVA, WXTJ 100.1 FM, which is celebrating its fourth birthday this week. WXTJ first began as a webstreaming station in 2013, then began FM broadcasting in April 2016.
Besides beign WXTJ’s birthday, Friday, October 6 also marks the annual celebration of College Radio Day, a day to celebrate college radio around the world. From 12 – 2 p.m., WXTJ broadcasts a special College Radio Day documentary to mark the occasion.
Listen live on the web or at 100.1 FM in Charlottesville. If you miss the live broadcast, listen here:
This year’s College Radio Day special features WTJU quite prominently. Starting at the 26:23 mark, it excerpts our “Gather Round Cville” broadcast from August 19th, which sought to begin healing and community reconciliation following the events of August 11-12.
