Spirit Family Reunion

Aer Stephen welcomes Spirit Family Reunion to Folk & Beyond and WTJU for the first time to perform Live in studio. They can be seen performing later this evening at The Mockingbird Roots Music Hall in
Staunton at 8 PM.

Spirit Family Reunion came together in 2009, bringing their rowdy brand of American music to
Brooklyn’s Lovin’ Cup Café for their weekly gig where banjos, fiddles, guitars, lots of singing, and stomping would fill the bar and bleed out into the street. Patrons would gather around the band at the front of the bar, standing on stools and tables, all joining in singing “….don’t worry about me, I’ll find a way!”  Playing all over NYC at farmer’s markets and subway platforms, the Family is getting to be known as one of the City’s most exciting Americana acts, and in the past year or so they’ve been called on to open for national touring acts like The Devil Makes Three, The Tallest Man on Earth, Rhett Miller, Devotchka, and Cadillac Sky. They’ve also sent themselves on numerous tours throughout the southeast and Midwest, playing bars, music halls, listening rooms, and festivals.
