on Around This Town

4:30 pm (edt)
Australian alt-country artists Chris Pickering and Lachlan Bryan will stop by Around This Town for a visit with host Will Courtney. Later that evening they will be performing at The Garage in downtown Charlottesville.
Chris Pickering is a singer, musician and songwriter, from Australia, who writes remarkable songs with beautiful melodies, smart hooks and thoughtful lyrics. He fearlessly tackles all manner of styles and arrangements, fusing flavors of pop, rock, country, bluegrass, folk, blues and, at times, psychedelia into his music. Bridging the gap between indie-pop and alt-country, CP is close to truly claiming a style all his own. His third album, Work Of Fiction, was recorded at Ardent Studios, Memphis, with Stax producer, Don Nix and released in 2012. His latest EP, 'Corners' was released in September 2012 and is the first in a series of 3 EPs to be recorded and released over an 18 month period.
Lachlan Bryan is probably best known as frontman and songwriter for The Wildes, an alt-country four-piece formed with best friends Mat Duniam, Shaun Ryan and Andy Wrigglesworth. Whilst still performing with The Wildes, Lachlan has recently recorded his debut solo album – Shadow of the Gun – for Core Music, through Sony Music Australia. The album features an all-star band and a few special guests such as Bill and Kasey Chambers. The dark themes and narrative streams are there as always, but there’s a distinct ‘singer-songwriter’ vibe to the record, as opposed to some of the bar band elements of The Wildes’ catalogue.
