New Classical Announcer: Patrick Fitzsimmons

As of February 1, Patrick Fitzsimmons is joining Elizabeth Benzinger as the new alternate host of “La Belle Musique,” heard Tuesday mornings on WTJU from 6 to 9 am. Patrick is a third-year government major at the University of Virginia. Patrick spent his first two years of college as a music performance major at Boston University and the University of Maryland (yes…three schools in three years).

Patrick Fitzsimmons

Patrick started out on the trumpet in elementary school but was told that he had too much “hot air.” So he was handed a tuba and never put it down. Although Patrick is no longer pursuing a career as a professional tuba player, as a self-described tuba “jock,” he loves the post-Wagnerian romanticism era and enjoys compositions by Mahler, Bruckner, Shostakovich, Prokofiev, and Debussy. He also plays the piano and is always in the mood for a beautiful Beethoven piano sonata or a Rachmaninoff concerto. So tune in Tuesday mornings from 6 to 9 am on WTJU to join Elizabeth or Patrick for more “beautiful music.”
