Jennifer Jones & The Big Blue Door

on Tell Us A Tale

Sunday, July 8, 2012

12-2 pm (edt)

Jennifer Jones, known to many on Tell Us A Tale as Jen Hoffman, will stop by her old stomping grounds Sunday, July 8, to talk about a new project, Big Blue Door, she and well known playwright Joel Jones have recently started in Charlottesville.

Big Blue Door was founded by Joel Jones and Jennifer Jones to encourage the people of Charlottesville and Central Virginia to tell their stories, and tell them with wit, passion, humor, and skill. They are committed to:

  1. A monthly true stories series (Big Blue Door Jams) where local performers tell stories about their lives
  2. True stories classes taught on a rotating basis in cooperation with great local organizations such as Live Arts, The Bridge, Piedmont Council of the Arts, and Writer House
  3. Longform Improvisation education taught by Joel based on his work with the big improv schools in NYC (Upright Citizens Brigade, Magnet Theater, and the Peoples Improv Theater)

They are producing Big Blue Door Jam on the third Thursday of every month, where anyone can come tell 6-8 minute true stories on changing themes, and groups can come volunteer as judges to pick a monthly winner.  The first "Jam" will occur Thursday, July 19, at the Bridge PAI located just off the Charlottesville downtown mall.
