Piedmont Blues master Douglas Turner Day will kick off the first Lambeth Live of 2014.

Douglas Turner Day is a musician, a folklorist, an oral historian, and a documentarian of folklife and folklore, with deep family roots in Virginia and Maryland.

For over 40 years now he has been making music on six- and 12-string guitars in a style rooted in the finger style of country blues of the Piedmont region where he grew up.  For over 20 years he has also been a professional folklorist, with an MA from the University of North Carolina, and a Ph. D.from the University of Pennsylvania in Folklore and Folklife.  For most of his career he has worked for non-profits, with generous support from the National Endowment for the Arts and its state and regional partners.
